Summer camp week 2- Covid-19 day 128

Our mom’s summer camp usually happens towards the end of the week, but since we are heading to St. George in a couple of days, I have already introduced our new topic for this week: astronomy.

Today we talked about solar system and how the planets orbit around the sun, and how long it takes for each planet complete a rotation.

I used water balloons and strings for this project. It was super simple to make and the girls really liked it.

We also talked about the moon and how it also orbits around the earth. Then around 10:00 pm I handed a moon journal to the girls and we went outside for them to study the moon and draw in their journals.

Unfortunately, we couldn’t see the moon and we were a bit disappointed.

Tomorrow I am planning taking them to the mountains to watch the Neowise comet as part of our summer camp.
