Giovanna left for Girl's camp last Monday. They headed to Moab to camp for five days and engage into adventurous sports that require them to have faith over fear- this year camp's theme.
Unfortunately, Giovi had to come back home earlier because of our trip to St. George and she was not able to participate in many activities such as rappelling, river rafting, and hiking the Arch, but she said she still had a lot of fun.
The stake made cute pink t-shirts for all the girls with the words "Faith Over Fear- D&C 36:6" on the back. Giovi took hers to St. George. Sister Crocket from or ward wrote a beautiful song for them to sing:
Winds were blowing, waves were crashing, fear was taking hold
They saw the Savior walk to them on water, through the storm
Seeing Him should be enough to know they would be safe
Peter stepped out of the boat and walked, but yet he still sank
They heard Him teach, they watched Him heal,
they walked with Him each day
Why wasn't all they knew enough to walk upon the waves?
Chorus
The greatest gift, despite the risk, God gave is agency
We are free to choose what we will focus on and see
Fear is a choice, Faith is a choice, my focus makes it clear
Choose faith, faith in Him, over fear
They have written down their stories, the examples there before me
The Savior's words are there for me to read
But there are times I feel alone, and I question truth I've known
I've forgotten that the power lies in me, believe when He says to me
I know the thoughts and intent of your heart, remember the night you cried?
I will encircle you in the arms of my love, enlighten, speak peace to your mind
Let earth and hell combine against you, they cannot prevail
Behold the wound which pierced my side and also the prints of the nails
I am the light which shines in the dark, look to me in every thought
I am Jesus Christ, the Son of God, doubt not, fear not
I love our ward, and I am so grateful for all the leaders do for our children!
