Christmas in February

Our family was finally able to get together to exchange Christmas gifts. With trips to Brasil and every day life it took us a minute to be able to meet.

I am happy it finally happened. We love aunt Sarah and tio Amauri’s company. I cooked Brazilian lasagna for dinner and lime mousse for dessert. We exchanged gifts and talked until late. It was a perfect Sunday.

Welcome February!!!

Last day of January

Can y'all believe it is ALREADY the last day of the month? I cannot believe January is gone. What happened? Time flew! I confess I haven’t even put our Christmas tree down yet. Hopefully we’ll do it before Valentine’s day!!

Today we took the girls to skate and then we went to Leatherby’s for ice cream.

February we are ready for you.

Sukiya

Time for sushi. Yum!

Today we tried a different roll- Jayden, made with crab, spicy tuna tempura shrimp with soy paper, and topped with torched yellowtail, jalapeno, tempura crunchies, cilantro, siracha, tobiko, spicy mayo, and eel sauce. It is delicious! You cannot go wrong with any sushi at Sukiya. It is one of my favorite places to go.

My dear white hair

The other day I was looking at the mirror and noticed my white hair. It is growing and it is everywhere now. I don't plan to color it. I like them and I am proud of them. They are a sign of where I've been and where I am going.

The other day I was talking to my mother-in-law how I like myself so much more now than when I was younger. Maturity and years of life experience are two good things.

Elder Robert L. Backman said: “ I look forward to new experiences, new ventures, new horizons, new worlds to conquer. I look forward to new opportunities to grow physically, mentally, socially, and spiritually. So many of us are afraid to leave our comfort zones and thus cheat ourselves of some of the greatest adventures of our lives”.

I am looking forward to conquer new worlds and enjoying new adventures.

Ten thousands

I love taking pictures but I definitely don’t love transferring them to the computer. It takes forever and often times the computer crashes and I have to start all over again. It’s a pain and it’s hard work.

Today I sat down determined to crush the task. It only took me five hours to transfer over ten thousand pictures from my phone to the computer. It will probably take me five months to sort them all out in each correspondent folder. I am not looking forward to it.

Besides that we had lunch at Cafe Rio for $0.98 (don’t ask me why their app charged us that for two entrees, two large drinks, and chips & guacamole), then we took the girls to Classic Skating.

Winterim 2026- Winter Olympics

The month of January is Winterim at Giovi's school. During this time students immerse themselves on a three-week seminar about a specific topic. This year Giovanna is learning about Winter Olympics. Besides regular seminars at school she's been also able to participate in fun activities such as cross country skiing and ice skating.

I will be here in Brazil most of her Winterim but she calls me to tell me all about her day and often sends me fun pictures. I am so happy she is having fun and learning so much. This has been her first time skiing. What an experience!

They've also visited Utah Olympic Park in Park City. I have taken the girls there several times before. Last time was in 2022 when my mom was here visiting.
