LDS Missionaries #lighttheworld - Day 14

Tonight we had the missionaries over for dinner. I love the missionaries! Because of them I know who I am, what is my purpose on this earth, and the things I need to do in order to return to my Heavenly Father’s presence. The missionaries have the most important role in church - to spread the good word, the word of salvation.

I remember back in Brazil when my father didn’t want the missionaries home. My mom used to have them over to hear the lessons while he was at work, so I clearly remember the fluttery feeling in my stomach every time I heard a sound outside. I’d think: “He is here”.

He even pushed one of the missionaries out of our house when they stopped by to bring me a cake for my birthday. It was the worse day of my entire life. I was so ashamed I didn't want to go back to church.

This picture dates May 1998 when I got baptized. I was the first member of my family to get baptized, then my sister, then my mom. I father is not a member of the church. Yet.

The missionaries who taught us were Elder Whitman and Elder Matt.

"For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also" - Matthew 6:21

Ways you can focus on what's important:

- Clear some space on your calendar to invest in some one-on-one time with someone you love.
- Donate to a loved one's college fund or a charity that represents something you care about.
-Sacrifice the cost of your favorite dish to help feed the hungry.
